Sarah walked into my room and made me feel I was going to be well cared for just by her sweet, caring personality.
I had surgery and spent the night in Duke Regional Hospital, and I went home late the following day. Sarah was filling in for someone else's shift, and by chance, I also got her as my nurse the next day. After surgery, like most people, I was pretty out of it and not feeling well. Sarah walked into my room and made me feel I was going to be well cared for just by her sweet, caring personality. She put me at ease and explained every single detail to my husband and me. She made sure I was comfortable, had the meds I needed, and watched me closely to monitor my health. She was very accomplished, bright, on her game, and did not miss any detail to making sure my care was 100 % even though I know she was really busy with other patients. She made me feel like I was #1. My husband, who years ago was an Army Medic, mentioned to me several times what a caring nurse she was as well as being polite, professional and very kind. She listened to me when I had questions or needed help. The following day before I was to check out of the hospital, she made sure I had every single thing I would need for my recovery process at home. She had a detailed set of paperwork of all my medications, directions on what I could and could not do, and patiently went through all of it with my husband and me and made sure we understood everything before leaving. This was a needed surgery hospital stay, and I can tell you that I was not looking forward to it. Sarah made it very comfortable, and I was so happy that I was in the hospital and received such great care. I know that if I ever need surgery again, I will go in feeling much more secure, knowing if other nurses are like Sarah, I will have a wonderful experience. She is an amazing person as well as a top-notch nurse that DRH should be very proud to have working for them.
