Professor McFadden is truly an amazing teacher.
Dr. SarahAnn McFadden brings excellence and empathy to all that she does. She is an extremely dedicated faculty member who is dedicated to ensuring all students receive the best nursing education possible to prepare them to be outstanding nurses. The following is just a small sample of the numerous student nominations she received:
I am honored to nominate this exceptional professor for the DAISY Award. As the Advisor for Pacific Lutheran University's Nursing Community Service Club, Delta Iota Chi, they have demonstrated unparalleled passion and leadership. Through initiatives such as the Silent Auction and Turkey Drive, they have not only supported our nursing students but also played a pivotal role in helping Delta raise funds to provide meals for over 2,000 individuals this Thanksgiving. Their guidance has been instrumental in our success and growth, both as nursing students and as compassionate community advocates.

Dr. McFadden is an amazing professor in all that she teaches. She is so kind and open, and she provides a safe space for students. She genuinely cares about what she teaches and how she presents the information to us. We recently covered the topic of LGBTQIA+ in healthcare, and it was the best class I have had at the school of nursing that covers the topic because of the way she presented the material. You can tell she cares about what we learn, not our grades, and I think that it is extremely important to bring back the joy and focus of learning, not being stressed about a grade. She is doing an amazing job bringing back the joy of learning!

Professor McFadden is truly an amazing teacher. She knows what she is teaching well. She makes classes so engaging with small group discussion, polls, videos, games, etc. She ensures that everyone can participate, even if they do not feel comfortable talking in front of the entire class. She challenges us to learn by giving us group projects but asking us to do them in a different way than they are traditionally done, so they are more engaging for our classmates or people looking at the poster. She is also very compassionate. She knows that nursing school is hard and tries to make her classes manageable for the students while we still learn. She is also a great listener if you are having a hard time. One time, she saw that a student was upset and stayed with them after class to help them talk through what was going on.
