Sarala Baral received the first honoree DAISY in Training Award May 16, 2017, as a Senior in the Morgan State University Nursing Program Pinning Ceremony.
The award is designed to remind students€”even on the hardest days in nursing school€”why they want to be a nurse. By recognizing nursing students who go above and beyond, providing care and compassion to patients and their families, we celebrate what it truly means to be a nurse.
Sarala has demonstrated and met the expectations required to fulfill this description. Sarala advocated for a patient who was experiencing a life-threatening crisis during her clinical rotation. For this selfless act and more, she was awarded this DAISY in Training Award.
Director of Nursing, Dr. Maija Anderson, took the initiative to bring the DAISY In Training Award to Morgan State University's Nursing Program.  The DAISY In Training Award was designed to recognize student nurses who provide the best clinical care possible and also impact their patients and families with kindness and compassion in their practice.
