This nomination is to acknowledge that Nurse Sara Pappachen is the absolute best. She comforted me during a time of extreme need. Our baby was born preemie about 25 weeks & about 1lb. When he was born he came out not breathing, looking very frail. Nurse Sara comforted me & told me that preemies of this size survive with the new technologies and excellent nursing care. She comforted me by sitting with me and re-assuring that things will be fine. She could have easily passed me along to Social Services, but always took time out of her busy schedule to educate & comfort me. She took great care of my baby. She even checked on him when she was not assigned to him as her patient. He spent many hours of care in the NICU under Sara’s excellent care getting stronger & growing.
She is a true asset. She made me feel hopeful during a very difficult time. She always seemed to go the extra mile in her care & service. She still calls in to check on our son, who is now 5 months old and over 7lbs. & doing very well. I truly believe that she is a credit to this institution, my thanks is not enough. She deserves so much more praise than I can bestow and is so deserving of the DAISY Award.
