On the first day of treatment, she and three other nurses gathered with my wife and me to pray. That was so important to us, as our faith is what got us through the most difficult time in our lives, and Savannah was a close second.
From the very start of my journey with lymphoma, there was one individual who seemed to be with my wife and me every step of the way. My nurse navigator, Savannah, will probably never get full gratitude for the line of work she's in; however, her professionalism and compassion are her best qualities. She was always available, always a direct contact between me and my oncologist, and always had my scheduling laid out well in advance. For a young guy who has never experienced a medical condition like this, she was a blessing to my impatience, fear, and doubt. If I joked and gave her a hard time, very quickly would she give it right back to me! On the first day of treatment, she and three other nurses gathered with my wife and me to pray. That was so important to us, as our faith is what got us through the most difficult time in our lives, and Savannah was a close second. Even after the conclusion of chemo, she has continued to check in on my health and maintained my schedule of future appointments. I'm not sure what her job title entails, but I'm certain she has gone beyond it. Her husband and one-year-old daughter are blessed to call her Wife and Mommy, just as I am blessed to call her Friend. Savannah is a vital part of Georgia Cancer Center and every person who comes in contact with her.
