May 2026 Honoree
Savannah D Sigmon, RN
My child attempted suicide by overdose. I was a mother distraught, watching my child being poked and prodded, and looking scared. Savannah went out of her way to make my son feel comfortable. She was an advocate for him and me, searching for a place to send him to get mental help. She made him feel comfortable and advocated taking the restraints off that he needed the night prior. Nursing is one of the hardest jobs, filled with chaos, and many times, patients who are abusive and uncaring. Savannah demonstrated what a nurse should be despite all these hurdles: kind, patient, and compassionate, full of empathy. From the bottom of my heart, my son and I were so appreciative of the care she gave him.
Thank you, Savannah D, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
