I was a 1st time patient at Magee's ER with GI bleeding. It was a very busy day but I was triaged and taken back to an examining room in short order. There I spent the next 28-30 hours waiting for a bed in the hospital. Savannah was one of the RNs caring for me. She was outstanding! She was the whole package. Kind, warm, very efficient, and very very bright, I never had to ask her for anything twice, though she was very busy. She told me about herself and her kids and her military service as she worked. The gurney I was on was very uncomfortable, so she and someone else went to central supply to get me a clean hospital bed. These are the kindest people stretched to thier very core. There are very good docs at UPMC but it is the nursing staff that holds this place together. They work very long hours, they put up with difficult patients, doctors, and families. Savannah is a FABULOUS nurse and person. She is a true hero, and I hope she receives recognition.
