Savannah provided excellent clinical care (which we expected and appreciated), but she also connected with us on a deeper level.
Savannah was my husband's nurse on the day he received his stem cell transplant and was the nurse who was able to discharge him home 18 days later! What a true blessing! Savannah provided excellent clinical care (which we expected and appreciated), but she also connected with us on a deeper level. She made us feel like we were part of her family and she ours. She remembered our daughter's name and asked about her. We shared stories about our homes (she ironically lives close to us), and we talked about our communities.
Savannah overheard me talking to a family member who is facing a health crisis, and she immediately picked up on this and asked if everything was okay. She listened intently as we explained what the circumstances were, and she offered her love and support. She could have easily dismissed our concerns, but instead, she offered an ear and showed how much she cared.
When we were ready to be discharged, she hugged us both, and we all shed tears. Tears of happiness, as well as tears that showed us the deep connection that was created over the course of time. Before my husband got into the car to go home, she assured us that both she and her husband would continue to pray for us. Thank you, Savannah, for being a very special nurse. You have truly touched our hearts.
