June 2026 Honoree
Savannah Shenk, BSN, RN
I am nominating Savannah for a DAISY Award after receiving a deeply moving letter from the mother of an 11-year-old boy who was declared brain dead following a hypoxic brain injury after an asthma exacerbation. As his night nurse during the withdrawal of life support, Savannah provided extraordinary compassion, comfort, and dignity, leaving such a profound impact that his mother wrote she found peace knowing Savannah was the one caring for her son during his final days. Her presence brought light and solace to a family experiencing unimaginable loss, exemplifying the very essence of nursing.
Thank you, Savannah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
