Scott Eldridge was shopping at Sam's Club. He heard a man yell "help me, help me!" Scott, being an ED nurse, ran to see what was going on. Running towards him was a man holding a blue, lifeless child in his arms. The man said "she choked on something, she choked on an oatmeal cookie." Scott grabbed the 2 year old girl out of her father's arms and performed the Heimlich maneuver on her. Within seconds, she started to cry and her color returned to her face. Scott then calmed the father down and instructed him to take the child to the after-hours Pediatric Clinic or to the Children's ED to be checked since she was still coughing. The child was brought to the CED by her parents. She was evaluated, treated, observed for a few hours and discharged home. The family was so appreciative to Scott for his quick action.

Thank you, Scott, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
