January 2013 Honoree
scott trimble, RN
I was caring for a patient with dementia, who had forgotten that her husband had died several years previously. In re-orienting her, she unfortunately heard the news as if for the first time. She was understandably distraught, and grieved. I held her hand and tried to ease her grief, but she was shattered. I knew Scott had a way of reaching patients at moments like these, and I asked him to come to my patient's room and pray for her (she is a devout Christian and I have observed Scott reach patients with prayer before). We prayed with her and he got her talking and eased her into a peaceful place within her dementia, which allowed her to become calm, and at last, restful.
Thank you, Scott, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
