I was admitted to 5E following a traumatic injury and was overwhelmed by the amazing care I received from Scotty. He rounded on me at least hourly that first night because he was so afraid I was developing compartment syndrome. My pain level was high so he checked on that frequently and did everything he could possibly do to make me comfortable. I had to use a bedpan and while that would normally be humiliating, Scotty made me feel ok about it and that I was not an imposition.

When I thanked Scotty for the awesome care he provided, his response back to me was “I treat my patients like I would want my wife or my kids treated” and I can honestly say that is how he treated me.

When I returned two weeks later to have the second surgery, I was happy that Scotty was working those two nights and he was my nurse. During this stay, he treated me just like he had the first time. The first post-op night, my pain level was high again and while I tried to be tough, Scotty encouraged me to take the appropriate medications which was definitely the right thing to do. I cannot express how much I appreciate Scotty and the great care he provided to me, and in my role. I know he provides this same level of care for all of his patients.
