My grandmother was transferred to this hospital due to sever mitral valve regurgitation. Before she left home, she expressed her fear to me. This was very out of character for her. Grant was her nurse on the next day after her arrival and she was giving him a hard time and a run for his money. He had tried to encourage her to set up help with the fluid build up and lung expansion. After some much-needed push, she worked with him a little more.

When I arrived the third morning of her stay, it was evident something was not right. Grant was her nurse, and he listened to my concern, and without hesitation, he whipped into action. Knowing her as the spunky and sassy woman from the day before he quickly agreed there was a serious change. He took no time to get to CT. Throughout the day, Grant provided passionate care not only to my grandmother but also to my family. He listened to all my concerns and acted on them. As we decompensated by that evening, Grant continued to advocate the need for a higher level of care for my grandma. Grant made sure she had what she needed before he left.

Unfortunately, my family had to make a tough decision to let my grandma go home to be with not only the Lord, but also two sons whom she lost to heart conditions. The night we made the decision while we waited for family, Grant saw me in the waiting room and he didn't hesitate, he greeted me with open arms and showed so much empathy for me and my family. I learned then that he had checked on her progress at least once since her move. It goes without saying that he is a wonderful nurse and should be recognized. Thank you, Grant, from me and my family!
