April 2024 Honoree
Selena Williamson, BSN, RN
Selena Williamson was my nurse for three of the days postpartum after my C-section. As a second time mom, with a toddler at home, I was struggling to get used to having to divide my attention between two children. At the same time I was also recovering from major surgery. I was incredibly fragile, both physically and emotionally at this time and Selena made all the difference in the world. She was kind and caring, but matter-of-fact. She went out of her way to make sure that I got all the services that I needed and to explain to me what would help me in this challenging time. And generally she made me feel safe and cared for in a time when I had to care for a fragile new human being. She did all of this with a smile on her face and while managing to keep me in good humor. Her care truly made my experience postpartum, meaningful and less difficult.
Thank you, Selena, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
