My brother was a patient in the CCU for several days before we had to make the decision to make him comfort care only. Selines went above and beyond to make my brother’s time in the CCU and his last few days as comfortable as possible. On his deathbed, my brother developed a bond with Selines that I had not seen him have with anyone in years. No matter what was going on or how he was feeling, seeing Selines always put a smile on his face. The type of smile I only saw him have when he saw his grandkids. 

Her compassion, selflessness, and dedication to my brother's care went above and beyond anything that could be expected or asked for from a nurse in her position. As someone who has been in the medical field for the better part of 30 years and who has done critical care transport for the last eight years, I understand how difficult it can be to treat people who are in the last few days of their lives. Patients can be scared, nervous, and going through every emotion imaginable. Selines did an amazing job caring for my brother during the scariest time of his life. She made him feel comfortable, happy, loved, and relaxed as he moved on from this world. She was also extremely supportive and helpful to our family during this most difficult and stressful time. Selines shows the skills and professionalism of a nurse who has been working in a Critical Care setting much longer than she has. It is an honor and pleasure to recommend Selines for the DAISY Award. She 100% deserves this and any and all awards and accolades that could be presented to her.

• She was exceptional with B. Every time she went into his room, his face lit up, and his smile was from ear to ear. Even after he was transferred to another floor, she would come in her days off and her breaks, and his smile NEVER failed him when she came in. She was also exceptional with the family. That is a true blessing to have, especially when you have a family member that is not doing well and is not expected to make it.

•    She went above and beyond her job duties with my friend’s dad and the family. They have raved about her and her kindness. Mr S passed this past week- but Selina was there to support not only the patient but the family as well.
•    Even after my family member B left her unit, Selines would come visit him on her breaks to check on him. Selines is full of compassion and made a real difference to so many of us!

•    She showed compassion by helping family members get through a tough time. She would visit our loved one on her breaks even though he was no longer on her unit. She was loving and empathetic towards B and the family.

•    All I know is B just lit up when Selines was on duty. Also, B's son and brother were also taken care of and made welcomed. I'm hearing the staff was great, but told Selines was over the top. Our family is grateful for all the staff did, but Selina went the extra mile.
