Selvistre B Hugo Jr, RM, RN
Mr. Selvistre B. Hugo Jr., RM, RN, has served the Nursing Service of Camp Elias Angeles Station Hospital (CEASH) with unwavering dedication, professionalism, and compassion. With thirteen (13) years of nursing service, he has consistently demonstrated commitment to delivering quality, patient-centered care. Known among colleagues and patients for his calm demeanor, strong clinical competence, and compassionate approach, Mr. Hugo has frequently been commended in Patient Satisfaction Surveys for his courteous attitude, attentiveness, and genuine concern for the well-being of those in his care.
His compassionate service was exemplified during the confinement of a 4-year-old pediatric patient diagnosed with cellulitis from an infected insect bite. According to the child’s mother, the patient’s excitement to return to school disappeared when swelling and infection developed on the side of her lip. Due to inclement weather, the child could not seek immediate consultation until her condition worsened and required hospital confinement.
A significant challenge arose during the insertion of an intravenous (IV) line, a procedure particularly difficult for young pediatric patients. Through patience, clinical expertise, and a calm, reassuring approach, Mr. Hugo successfully inserted the IV line, enabling timely treatment. His gentle manner eased the anxiety of both the child and her mother, fostering trust and comfort during a stressful situation. Demonstrating continuity of care, he was personally requested by the patient’s mother to remove the IV line upon the child’s discharge.
Beyond his clinical competence, Mr. Hugo is highly regarded by peers for his humility, dedication, and willingness to assist whenever needed.
