The Senior Retreat has impacted day-to-day operations since its inception and plays a vital role in the operation of the medical center and the surrounding community. The geriatric psychiatric population is a very challenging field and our Senior Retreat provides a vital service for KMC and the surrounding community. The highly skilled interdisciplinary team collaborates with each other and all departments to promote patient-centered care. The collaboration and teamwork among the Senior Retreat team make a difference in the lives of patients, families, visitors, and the community. Admission to the Senior Retreat is an important and difficult decision toward recovery for patients and loved ones, and usually, the events leading up to the decision are stressful and overwhelming. The care team welcomes each patient and family and treats them as their own, and providing excellent care and comfort is paramount. The work they do is exemplary and is done while representing MUSC Health in a positive, compassionate, and professional manner.
The Senior Retreat team of caregivers exemplifies the values, vision, and embody the MUSC Health mission of "Changing What’s Possible" every day! This team of nurses and support staff of social worker, case manager, CNAs, techs, unit secretary, and activity therapists are a valuable resource to MUSC and the community, and we appreciate their efforts!
