“My husband and I stayed at WIH from Tuesday to Thursday… and let me tell you it was uncomfortable to say the least. I wasn’t progressing past 2 centimeters, and I was beyond discouraged. That was until an Angel of a nurse began studying my contractions. She helped me do a baby spinning technique… my contractions changed, and baby boy was in the right spot. Before I knew it, a few hours later my labor FINALLY progressed. I have worked as a nurse for 10 years, 7 in an ICU. To be honest after COVID, I needed a change and started working outpatient. It’s nurses like Sequin who reignite my hope for healthcare. There were so many amazing nurses who took care of us during our stay… they were the ones who made the difference and so many of them went the extra mile!!! But Sequin was amazing in caring for me and helping my husband understand all of the happenings. Nurses like Sequin are the ones who meet your hospital mission. She showed us all of the hype that W&I is, and what family and friends have always told us of your hospital. Nurses are the ones who are face to face with the patient and are going to make the difference in quality care. And that’s what Sequin did for us. She went the extra mile and was beyond attentive. I felt like I was in good hands and trusted her fully (something hard to do if you yourself are a nurse and now the patient). She deserves recognition. She deserves this nomination. We wish her the absolute best in her career, and I hope she never loses her light or bedside manner… it’s hard to come by and navigating the treacherous waters of healthcare can sometimes dim it.
