Thank you, Serena, for your love and for making my mother’s last days better just by being there.

Serena was our nurse, caring for my mother and showing her love – not just care. She visited her twice when she wasn’t even working that day and crocheted her two gifts. She would draw close to her and lock eyes with her and ask her what she could do for her. My mom would respond to her even when she would not to us. This nurse is an angel in disguise.

Serena not only lovingly cared for my terminal mother but saw that my father and all us siblings understood what was going on. She felt true compassion for our family and saw to it that various things were done to help mom’s depression. She even came to see her off duty just to cheer her up. She truly is an angel sent from God. She is by far the most compassionate, caring , professional and knowledgeable nurse I have ever seen at any hospital anywhere. She should be commended for her excellent work ethic, especially learning she has just started her career not long ago. She is a very big asset to the hospital and the world!

Serena was the most caring and compassionate nurse that my mother had in her 3 ½ week long stay. Serena was 100% professional in her care for my mother and you could tell that nursing was way more than just “a job” for her. She was truly concerned for my mother’s wellbeing, and our family. My mother loved Serena and her face would light up when she entered the room. She also was such a comfort and help to my dad who sat at my mother’s bedside every day for 3 ½ weeks watching her slowly decline. She talked to them and helped both of them in their distress and suffering. She could see the love that they had for each other as well.

Serena didn’t treat my mother as “just another patient’. She looked deep into her heart and had compassion for her as she struggled with numerous health problems and the realization that she wouldn’t be with us much longer. Most of your nursing staff was wonderful, but Serena was the bright and shining star above them all. Thank you, Serena, for your love and for making my mother’s last days better just by being there and going above and beyond for her and for us. Bless you.

Serena cared for my wife with love and compassion. My wife has since passed on but one of the last words from her mouth was “I love you Serena”. As she lay dying, this nurse crocheted a large afghan for her. She also made her a cross. She held that cross in her hand up until her death. Serena even came to the viewing and comforted me and my daughters. There are nurses that just do their job, but this nurse CARED. She deserves an award and so much more. Thank you Serena. God Bless her.
