I felt I had a friend helping me through the most challenging parts of giving birth, which was invaluable.
The care that Serena provided to me while laboring in labor and delivery was above and beyond her duties and made me feel like such a valued patient. She took the time to get to know me and my family's story. We had been awake for days before she went on shift, and she listened to what we had already been through.

Serena connected with us on a personal level and was easily able to take care of my physical and emotional needs at the same time. She made sure that I was completely comfortable and knew all the details about what was going on with medications and procedures. Pretty soon, she knew the story of how my husband and I met, where we had lived before, and that we were moving soon. Serena worked so hard to ensure I was feeling good and was encouraging through four hours of pushing. I had to have a c-section, and she did not get to meet our baby. However, she came and found us the next day in recovery to meet our little baby girl! She came and sat with me and asked all about the c-section and how I was doing. She was not even assigned to me or working on that floor then, but she really checked on me!

I never thought a labor and delivery nurse would express so much care and compassion in getting to know me as an individual. It blew me away! I felt I had a friend helping me through the most challenging parts of giving birth, which was invaluable. Anyone in her care is truly blessed by her open heart and work ethic. I was in the hospital for four days; she was the highlight and the person my husband and I will remember the most.
