Serena is a single parent who works two jobs to support her family. She goes out of her way to help others and help her patients with the best possible outcomes. She is an LPN who works in the school system as a school nurse through the week and here at SSH every weekend. Serena tries to better herself and keep up to date with PALS education. She took the two-day course last month without compensation and just wants to keep up-to-date for her school kids. Also, we had the largest snow on record for this year last weekend, and she is so dedicated to her job, she bundled up and walked to work so she would be here on time and ready to help with patients and to relieve her co-workers so they could go home. Serena always has a positive attitude and will always help others. She shows this attitude day in and day out.

Serena was always very kind, warm and personable. She made my dad feel special and well-cared for. Serena was always willing to go the extra mile. She even helped walk my dad down the hall assisting another nurse when he wasn't even Serena's patient that day. Her personal dedication to nursing and aspiring to enhance her professional growth (without accumulating more debt) was quite inspirational. Serena is dedicated to her family while still trying to further her career, this demonstrates a sincere calling on both fronts to use her God-given talents to touch others' lives. Always a ready smile and a warm hug, any patient would be most fortunate to have Serena as a nurse who serves others with love and compassion.
