I can’t even begin to express how Sergio warmed my heart when he was caring for the 19-year-old patient who was unfortunately pronounced brain dead. He exemplifies all of the TMH I Care values. Sergio was extremely compassionate. He was God sent as the mother told him that he was “Gold” to their family. The mother expressed to me that she felt so assured that God sent this angel (Sergio) who was taking care of her “baby boy”. When I called the mother the following day to check on her, she shared with me that she was able to walk away in peace when her “baby boy” was being rolled to the OR for organ donation because she felt safe because Sergio was by his side and stayed with him throughout the process. The entire family was extremely grateful for the care provided and for all the love and support they received.
