Serica was caring for a patient that was sent over from a clinic appointment to Out Patient Surgery unaware that she would be having to go into surgery. On admission, Serica was made aware of a child that was with her patient and soon found out about another child that was waiting in the car. As the time drew closer for the patient to go to surgery, it was evident that the children needed food and some direction, and Serica took it upon herself to go above and beyond to make sure the children were taken care of. She ensured that they were fed and comfortable and were in the right spot while they waited for another family member to wait with them for their mother. Serica goes above and beyond all the time for her patients and is a wonderful example for UMC.
