I was transported to the ER from Baylor Scott & White in Waco with a bowel obstruction. Tuesday night I was admitted to 5N in Temple. Wednesday morning the surgeon came in and told me I had about 10 minutes to prepare for surgery. Seth was there when the surgeon was speaking to me. Not only did I have 10 minutes to prepare for surgery but the surgeon told me I may not make it through the surgery, he said if I did I would have to go to ICU. There was also a possibility that I would never be able to eat solid foods again. I was told I may have a colostomy bag. To make things worse is my family wasn't' there. They left during the night and had not returned. My phone would not make long distance calls. Seth saw how distraught I was. As they loaded me on the stretcher Seth brought me a phone to call my family. He then came to me to speak a word of encouragement. He said, "be encouraged. You will make it through and when you come back I will take good care of you". Seth's words of encouragement would be my last words to hear and they gave me the strength I needed to face a life-threatening surgery.
When I returned he took good care of me. I asked him if he liked his job. He said he loved it. I could see he loved his job by the care he gave his patients. Seth is one of a kind and he deserves to be recognized. Love and compassion clearly come from his heart.
