Shae took the time to help patients, provided arrival education to the unit, provided reassurance that their needs would be met, and the patients felt safe.
Today we have experienced a very difficult day. A full department with patients being held until they could receive higher levels of care. Shae was our Facilitator and her strong performance to address the most difficult challenges was certainly noticed by all the nurses working today. The special needs of the patients required a special touch and her leadership helped to facilitate this effort. Shae listened to staff, listened to the families and to the patients. Many family members have called and stated how difficult it is to call into the hospital, they shared their frustration towards not being able to visit due to COVID, and she not only listened, but she also provided comfort with her conversation and helped to connect families to the patients.

Shae’s compassion went well beyond, as the difficulties of being a facilitator increased, she still stopped, listened to staff, and gave them comfort that was sincere and empathetic. When patients had special needs, she quickly responded, made sure the call lights did not go unanswered. Shae took the time to help patients, provided arrival education to the unit, provided reassurance that their needs would be met, and the patients felt safe. She used her love of nursing and knowledge to support all the members of the team today. Thank you very much!
