November 2020 Honoree
shaela skinner, RN
I have end-stage liver disease. I came in not being able to eat, drink, sleep, etc. I had a brand-new port that had been placed a few weeks ago and I was terrified, I cried a lot. Shaela took the time to explain things, check in on me more than I thought nurses would. She held my hand while I cried over my diagnosis. She made every measure to find ways to help my pain between pain medication doses. She ran constantly for hot packs and heated blankets and even rubbed cream on my abdomen. Shaela did all of this while maintaining the same care for her other patients. I feel she is not only an excellent nurse but also the kind of person I would like to be.
Thank you, Shaela, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
