Shakira Wardlaw was nominated for the DAISY Award by a patient who felt she was ready to give up. "I was in a lot of pain and felt bad. I didn't get my medicine", states the patient.

Shakira advocated on behalf of her patient, she received the proper pain medication, and brought it to the patient's room exactly when it was due to be given.

"Shakira doesn't know this, but her kind words made me not want to give up. Her compassion and gentleness made me want to keep fighting". For her attentiveness and caring nature, Shakira receives this DAISY Award.
