Shalena Austin, BSN, RN

Shalena Austin is an angel on earth. My son was admitted in the NICU for a couple of days and no one seemed to know or understand why he is desatting or how he could be helped. Shalena was his nurse one night and sat down with me and wanted to understand from me what had happened, what's been happening and what was done. She realized quickly that all this is tied to his feeding bottle he was using. She asked my permission if she could change his bottle and taught me how to pace feed him, and he didn't have any desaturation that feeding. She then went out of her way and asked other professionals (OT) to evaluate him and that resolved the whole problem. She is a true hero and I owe it to her that my son got discharged from the NICU.
