Shambrey provided exceptional care to my mother when she was recently admitted to the Neuro ICU. My mom had multiple seizures in a short period of time and the staff (and our family) were uncertain at first if strokes were occurring. It was very scary and stressful for my mom and our family. My Mom had never had seizures before. She was terrified and lost her independence and dignity for many many hours while she tried to recover. She couldn't talk, walk, control her bladder, or do anything on her own and she did not understand what was happening. Shambrey maintained a professional, calm, very caring demeanor throughout multiple emergencies. After my Mom stabilized, Shambrey stayed long after her shift ended to ensure my Mom and our family felt comfortable going into the night.
My Mom knows I am typing this now. She just came in (she can talk again!) and told me it was very important to nominate Shambrey because, during her attacks, Shambrey held her hand tightly and told her she would be OK and would not leave her. My mom had attacks while tests were run when our family could not be in the room. She kept saying "she never left my side". Shambrey demonstrates calm competency, professionalism, and genuine concern for patients and families. She truly helped us through some very hard days when things were uncertain and scary. We are forever grateful.
