When we delivered our sweet baby girl we were very fortunate to have Shandy as our nurse. I wanted to write you today to tell you what an amazing job she did. I am a first time mom and my delivery that day was a very unique. I was two weeks early with absolutely no contractions or any real signs to tell me I was about to go into labor. My water broke at my doctors office across the street at about 1:30pm that day. I rushed over to labor and delivery and was admitted around 2:00pm. Shandy came in with a smile on her face and was so kind and calming.
I was not only nervous and excited but I had a whole lot of other emotions going on as well. Unfortunately my mother was upstairs on the second floor in ICU in her final moments. We weren't sure how long she had since some days were good and some were bad. So as I was bringing my sweet baby girl into this world and becoming a mom, I was losing mine. It was a lot to take in and Shandy was a breath of fresh air. My labor moved very quickly and I ended up only pushing three times and delivering my baby at 5:02pm.
I think that God had a huge hand in all of this because my mom was barely hanging on. I was told that she did not have long and Shandy went above and beyond to give me the opportunity to see my mom one last time before she passed away. Fifteen minutes after I gave birth Shandy wheeled me to my moms room and I was able to lay next to her and tell her how much I loved her and that my baby girl was here and she was beautiful and healthy. I was able to hold my moms hand and tell her how much I loved her and that I hoped to be even half the mom she was to me. This time was so incredibly special to me because as I was telling my mom about the baby her heart rate and blood pressure went up and I knew that was what she was waiting for in order to let go.
She passed away a few hours after that and now she looks over us everyday. My baby was fortunate enough to have gained a guardian angel the day she was born and I thank God everyday that I had the chance to tell my mom about her. This would not have been possible if it weren't for your amazing staff and our amazing nurse, Shandy. Thank you for all that you do and for great people like Shandy that make this world a brighter place.
