Shane's dedication to mentoring new leaders is truly commendable. Our young Westside HAS team values his humor, adaptability, and his genuine interest in supporting us and our teams.
In the past year, Shane has worked incredibly hard to be a leader and mentor to his peers. He has stepped up multiple times to help fill in the gaps in med surge when needed, starting with when he transitioned from 3S. He maintained his leadership of 3S while working into his new position as Regional HAS Manager without complaint.

Currently, he is again in the process of taking on a med surg unit as an interim until new leadership is appointed. It's easy to discount someone stepping in to fill a position temporarily, and it's easy to think it's just babysitting a unit until the new manager comes. Shane will take that unit and put himself wholeheartedly into it. He will take ownership of the people, help ease their transition time, and care for the staff like they are his own.

On a personal level, I have experienced Shane's supportive and positive approach to mentoring. He is one of the people who helped me through some early missteps and hard learnings with positive words and encouragement. He is always ready to assist, even if it’s the third time I’ve asked for help with something. He not only provides the information I need but also guides me on where to find it or how to complete the necessary forms. Shane's dedication to mentoring new leaders is truly commendable. Our young Westside HAS team values his humor, adaptability, and his genuine interest in supporting us and our teams. Even with our separation into hospital-based teams, Shane remains a constant source of guidance and support.
