Thanks, Shane! Everything you did made my day easier. You will never be forgotten.
I was sent to Banner Baywood ED by my doctor’s office because I was in respiratory distress. I was extremely scared! Shane answered every question and explained every procedure with a warm, filled heart. His smile made me feel safe. I had numerous tests, and he administered a fabulously painless IV. He checked on me constantly, and if he couldn't help me, he immediately went to get a doctor or respiratory therapist who could.
Once I knew I was being admitted, he explained my rights of being intubated and resuscitated. I asked Shane if I was going to die! He never said yes, but he never said no. What he did say was, "We all have an expiration stamp on our backside. We just can't see it! But you are in the best hands and care that you can possibly be in.” He then took my hand and told me that I was ok and to stay calm and to definitely stay a full code patient.
Shane was done for the evening and had to do rounding and notes, but before he went home to his family, he took his own time to stop by and tell me who my pulmonary doctor was going to be and that I had the best doctor I could get. He then proceeded to stroke my hand again and told me to hang in there and that he would be thinking good thoughts for me. He then proceeded to shake my husband’s hand and tell him what a special lady he had for a wife! Shane provided over the top care! He was the best nurse I have ever had in any situation. Thanks, Shane! Everything you did made my day easier. You will never be forgotten.
