"Shane is a new oncology nurse on F7. He just completed orientation as a new graduate and he had a patient that had relapsed who was here for further chemotherapy and a possible transplant. The patient was here by himself. During the course of caring for this patient, Shane realized the patient was about to have a birthday. He wanted to do something special for the patient so he arranged to have a steak dinner delivered to the hospital. He paid for this out of his own money. I find this truly impressive that he had such insight into what the patient was going through and the desire to help. I talked with the patient and discovered that the patient did not even know that Shane was the one that arranged the dinner. He wanted to remain anonymous.
