I would like to nominate Shane, RN, for the DAISY Award for the exceptional care he provided to my wife during a very frightening emergency room visit. My wife arrived in the ER coughing and struggling to breathe, a situation made especially critical by the fact that she has stage IV cholangiocarcinoma with metastatic disease and a severely compromised immune system.

From the moment Shane entered the room, he acted with urgency, compassion, and remarkable professionalism. He immediately assessed her vital signs and took the extra time to thoroughly familiarize himself with her specific cancer diagnosis and the extent of her metastasis. This allowed him to seamlessly coordinate her care with the physician and ensure that every decision was tailored specifically to her complex medical needs. Shane kept my wife informed at every step, explaining what was happening in a calm and reassuring manner. This was her first experience battling the flu while immunocompromised, and his ability to comfort her emotionally while delivering excellent clinical care made an enormous difference during an incredibly stressful time.

Despite the holiday, Shane never made us feel rushed or overlooked. His dedication, empathy, and willingness to go above and beyond exemplify the very best of nursing. Shane's compassion, clinical excellence, and genuine concern for his patients and their families left a lasting impression on us. We are deeply grateful for his care.
