Shane DeGannes, RN

I nominated Shane for The DAISY Award because he is the perfect example of excellence. When I first met Shane not too long ago, I thought he was in the honeymoon phase. I couldn't wait to see what his personality was really like. After working with him for over a year, I have realized that this is just who he is. Always positive, the perfect model of what a professional and caring nurse should be. He demonstrates our core values on a daily basis. Hardworking, knowledgeable, optimistic, compassionate, empathetic, even-tempered, open-minded, humble, and dependable are just a few words I would use to describe him. Almost every month Shane's name comes up in the staff meetings, and management lets us all know about the patients that have given him compliments about the care he has provided. He takes time and sits and talks to his patients and gives them his undivided attention. I have watched Shane on several occasions taking his patient by the hand and walking them out of the department after they are discharged. These are just a few of the many examples of the type of nurse that Shane is. I could go on and on. If anyone is deserving of a DAISY Award it is Shane. I want him to know that his dedication to this profession is noticed and appreciated.
