Shane Esmonde, RN
Shane is the picture-perfect nurse. He is hardworking, knowledgeable, a dedicated team player, and he genuinely cares about the big picture in nursing - his patients and their outcomes. Shane is very friendly, radiates positivity, and has a contagious laugh. Most often, I am called to his patients’ rooms so they can share all of the details about how endearing Shane was, how he went above and beyond to make their experience in the hospital a good one, and how he is a nurse that strives to make a difference. Most of my patient feedback letters, calls, and rounds, include a compliment about Shane's performance.
Most recently, Shane received a caregiver celebration from a patient and the patient’s spouse. First, I believe this says a lot in the way that the patient and family member, in such a chaotic time, thought it was worth their time to take a second to recognize Shane. He advocated for the patient's safety, for the patient to go to rehab rather than home. The patient stated that Shane "had the courage to tell me what I needed to hear instead of what I wanted to hear. Shane is a great asset to Hillcrest Hospital.” The patient's wife went on to thank Shane for assisting in making a difficult, life-changing decision. She states that she appreciated "the empathy that was displayed....you are an amazing RN." Shane is right where he is meant to be, as a nurse. The nursing world wouldn't be the same without him.
