During my grandmother's stay in the ICU following her massive stroke, Shane was her nurse for several days. He showed such compassion for her and our entire family. He explained to both her and us, everything he was doing and always followed through on getting us answers. He also never seemed put off by our hundreds of questions. He never spoke about her like she wasn't there. He was gentle in the way he spoke to and physically handled her. My favorite moment was when she was beginning to make facial expressions, so he decided to share with her that his wife was pregnant with their second child. He made her smile! He was also excited to hear about her progress after she moved to a step-down room. We love Shane! His personality, compassion, and sense of humor are priceless when we're in such a vulnerable state.
