I was a patient on bed rest here at SNGH 31 weeks pregnant due to preterm rupture of membranes. Shaneil took great care of me on Antepartum. She made personal connections with me as she had a 4 month old infant at home.
A few days later, at 3:03 am, I got up to use the bathroom. I called the NCP to take my vitals first, then went to the bathroom. It was there that my cord prolapsed. I got to the bed and hit the panic button.
The NCP was there calling for Shaneil. In a second she was there and immediately sprang into action. She was on my bed in an instant with the cord in her hands. She told someone to call L&D and others to wheel me to the elevator.
She got them to check for a heartbeat and told me my baby girl was ok before I went under anesthesia for an emergency situation. K came into this world at 3:19 am - 16 short (but to me long) minutes after my call!
Shaneil went to check on K in the NICU ASAP - even before my husband was allowed back. She said she had to see her and report back to me immediately! Shaneil found me in Postpartum twice - once asleep right after surgery so she didn't wake me, and again a few days later. She came to apologize for not explaining what she was doing during the emergency. Can you believe that? This angel who saved our lives apologizing!
She was my focal point and kept me calm by her calm and in control manner during an extremely stressful situation.
K, my husband, and I will be eternally grateful for our angel, Shaneil. Thank you is not enough to express our profound gratitude!
