On the days that Shanna would visit I could relax because I knew that a caring, qualified, compassionate person was seeing my spouse.
We found ourselves in a unique situation when my husband had to have emergency surgery. As snowbirds, we didn’t have a PCP or any other physicians in the area. When my spouse was released from the hospital, he needed a lot of care at home with antibiotics by IV every 8 hours, PICC line care, wound care, and pain management. If I wasn’t able to do it, my husband would have had to go to rehab. With the pandemic, this was one place we didn’t want him to have to go to. At the same time, I was overwhelmed at the thought of the care. I should have never worried. Your nurse was able to teach me how to give the IV medicine and how to provide general care for my husband during this time. When the wound care was done, she showed me how to apply a wet dressings and later dry dressings. On the days that she would visit I could relax because I knew that a caring, qualified, compassionate person was seeing my spouse. She answered all of our questions, no matter how many or how silly they may have been. She was our advocate when we needed it. I don’t know what I would have done without all of the professionals at BayCare Homecare but especially her.
