Shannan kept working like a superhuman.
We received a very sick patient from SDU who immediately needed to be intubated. Right from taking the report from the SDU nurse to the end when the patient, unfortunately, passed away, I was impressed by the way Shannan managed this patient.  Even before the patient arrived in ICU, Shannan proactively approached me for what needs to be prepped (lines, kits, meds, USG, coordination with Pharmacy/RT team).  The patient was COVID-positive, so we had limited staff in the room to avoid unnecessary exposure. Intubation went uneventful, thanks to the coordinated efforts of everyone, especially Shannan.

Shortly afterward, the patient underwent cardiac arrest and as we all know how chaotic things get, I was impressed by Shannan's exposure in administering all the meds while also keeping track of everything.

After resuscitation, while I was busy stabilizing the patient and placing a central line on the left side, Shannan immediately recognized a very subtle sign of traumatic pneumothorax from CPR.  Of course, pneumothorax was confirmed on the chest x-ray.  She helped me place a chest tube emergently and got me all the things I needed.  To be noted, she was the sole person most of the time in the room with me.

The patient could never be stabilized enough.  Needed pressors after pressors, bicarb pushes, amiodarone pushes, blood transfusions, multiple CXRs, etc. Shannan kept working like a superhuman.  She never left the room from 1145 until 1830.  Not a step outside the room.  All this effort while comforting at least 7-8 family members.

I have seen Shannan evolve so much since her days as a telemetry tech.  If I or my family member was ever to be this sick, I wish for Shannan to be my nurse.  I am grateful that she works in our ICU.  I would definitely like Shannan to be recognized for her efforts.
