I was seen in the ER on a very busy day and Shannon was my nurse. My “room” was a stretcher in the hallway which is not optimal for privacy. Shannon did her very best to make my visit there the best it could be. When the doctor ordered a pelvic exam, she moved me to the Resus room and started setting up while teaching another provider how to do so, while also treating my severe pain. She was very patient with me even though I know she had so much to do, and she really cared about making me as comfortable as possible. While teaching the other person I could hear her talk about things to consider making sure the doctor had everything he needed but making sure the patient always remained comfortable. As she was finishing the setup we got moved out of that room and Shannon had to find another place for me to get as much privacy as possible. She created a “private” space in what appeared to be a triage area and made sure I was ok with the situation and as comfortable as possible so that I could get the exam and finish up my visit as quickly as possible. I know Shannon worked hard that day and I really appreciate everything she did to make a difficult situation the best it could be. It was a terrible day for me, but it could have been so much worse if Shannon had not done so much to make it better. Thank you, Shannon.
