Shannon was caring for a Veteran with a severe GI bleed. She went above and beyond to care for this Veteran when he began to have sudden onset mental health care needs. To ensure that the Veteran was safe, Shannon initiated 1:1 status and consulted the ICU team for emergent psychiatry consult. Despite her busy day in the ICU, she remained with the patient, held his hand, and listened to him with compassion and empathy. The Veteran later commented on how he truly appreciated her for taking this time with him. Thank you, Shannon, for the extraordinary care you provided this Veteran when he was feeling at his lowest!! So proud to have you on our team!
