I was at the nurses' station and happened to observe Shannon taking the extra time to talk with an elderly patient. The patient was sitting in her room alone, staring at the wall. Shannon went into the room and engaged the patient in conversation. I watched as Shannon took time from her busy day to listen attentively and reply in a friendly, caring manner. She then proceeded to make the patient's bed "like my grandmother taught me" (she said) and tidy the room. I'm sure this patient felt as if she was the only one on the unit. This is just one example of her thoughtful, compassionate care. She always has a positive attitude and acts in a professional manner. She goes above and beyond to care for all of the needs of the patient and family.
