Beyond providing excellent medical care, Shannon did everything with joy and compassion.
Due to complications from brain surgery, I contracted meningitis. This required a second surgery to repair the leak of spinal fluid. I was very sick with the infection and disappointed that I had to undergo surgery again when I was already two weeks into my recovery from the first surgery. Fortunately, Shannon was my nurse on the day before my surgery. She helped to make my difficult situation so much better.
Beyond providing excellent medical care, Shannon did everything with joy and compassion. She was always patient, never making me feel like any of my requests or needs were a bother. She brought humor and laughter into my room, which helped lighten the mood.
When we found out that I would return to my same room post-surgery, it was the best thing that happened to us in days because Shannon was going to be my nurse again. I will always remember Shannon. Consumed by tubes, pricks, meds, vitals checks, in addition to constant fever and just feeling lousy she intervened with extraordinary care and made my stay better.
