Shannon Follwell, RN

Shannon Follwell is an amazing nurse who truly goes above and beyond for our bariatric patients. This week, a patient of ours called with a non-bariatric-related issue. The patient had been having intense migraine pain, and no medication was working. The patient was referred to neurology, and there were no appointments available until August. The patient was in agonizing pain and did not know what to do. Since I also know this patient, Shannon asked me to listen in to see if I could assist.

Shannon noted that the patient’s behavior was not her normal. Shannon also asked Dr. Follwell to come in and speak with the patient. Shannon called the neurologist, and it was decided that the patient should go to the ER for evaluation. The patient was admitted, and she did in fact have an urgent diagnosis that needed to be addressed. Shannon stopped in to see the patient while she was admitted, and the patient was so thankful and felt she saved her life.
