I saw a patient in the neurology clinic as a follow up; Shannon was their nurse while inpatient. The patient and parent were admitted for left flank pain for a week. The mother shared that the patient had her first panic attack with a significant pain episode, and that it was very scary and alarming for both her and her daughter.
Shannon came to the patient's side and talked her through it. She notified the appropriate people, remained calm and handled it very professionally. They were very happy with the care they received and felt calm and comfortable under Shannon's care.
