After suffering with a migraine for three weeks a patient was scheduled with Shannon Gregg, APRN, for neurology consult. Once scheduled, the patient and her family expressed the severity of her migraine and that she just couldn't get any relief. Shannon recognized that something didn't seem right and ordered an MRI and MRA right away even though the patient hadn't been seen. She wanted the patient to go right in for the MRI and MRA that day and was persistent in her efforts to get that scheduled. The MRI and MRA of the head and neck came back abnormal and Shannon sent the patient directly to the Emergency Room. After being seen by the ER physician she was airlifted to another facility for treatment. The patient's family stated that if it wasn't for Shannon listening to their concerns and her persistence, the patient might not be here today. The patient and family are very thankful for the extra mile Shannon went.
