The Dignity of the Human Person Every person is made in the image and likeness of God and hence, every human is sacred and has an inherent dignity. The measure of any institution is whether it threatens or enhances the life and dignity of the human person. Shannon lives the principle of “Dignity of the Human Person” every day. She takes the time to listen to everyone and truly cares about what they say. She embraces the strengths of those she works with and mentors them to continue growing and developing. She is always looking to brighten others’ days and make them laugh. She looks for the good in everyone and recognizes that she is a “Pollyanna”.

Shannon is known for her care for students and passion for teaching. Countless students have recognized her for her positive impact on them and their learning. We all know that if you walk into her office thinking you might pursue a graduate degree in nursing at some point, you will walk out signed up for the DNP program starting as soon as possible. She also cares deeply about every nurse and every student, even if they are not necessarily our students. She wants everyone to be successful; even if SACN and its programs aren’t what they are looking for, she still takes the time to talk to them about their future and success. I also don’t think enough can be said for how she has demonstrated leadership and commitment to SACN during a time of stress and rapid change. She has been a tireless advocate for the College and has greatly expanded our outreach and partnership efforts. She is deeply appreciated!
