Shannon M Geary

Shannon Geary was taking care of a 45 y/o man with ESRD, SOB, and noncompliance. The patient was confused and on 10 L of oxygen. This patient was agitated and restless on Thursday –was demanding he was gonna leave --- saying no one was caring for him and that he wasn’t getting any better. Shannon went into his room, where she managed to calm him down, got him to agree to a bath, and managed to get him to eat as he hadn’t been. She even managed to get the patient to agree to dialysis on Friday by promising to play Uno and Phase 10 with him in dialysis. On Friday, Shannon played cards with him in dialysis. The hospitalist even complimented her on the care of this man since he was threatening to leave. She had calmed him down and got him to eat again. Shannon went above and beyond for this patient, which are characteristics that will make her a great nurse.
