The first night I came to this floor, Shannon was my nurse. How lucky I was to get her. In the same week I had found out I have Lung Cancer, Spinal Bone Cancer, and a spot on my brain. Terrible shock for someone who had no clue 10 days ago I was sick.
From the moment I reached Oncology, Shannon was waiting for me at 3:30 am. She stopped my gurney, grabbed both of my hands, and said, "I'm Shannon and I will be taking care of you. We will get through this together. I've got you now." She has stood by that statement every day she had been my nurse. This woman was literally made by God to be a nurse. I have seen the compassion and love she gives freely to those who so desperately need her. She was sent to me by the hand of God and no one will ever know the strength and courage Shannon gives me every day. This hospital truly blessed to have her. Not only is she a source of courage for me, but my family as well.
